ABOUT SARA BRACKEN

The natural world provides me with an infinite source of inspiration.  I find tremendous beauty in the details of the earth; lacy lichen on rocks, sculptural seedpods in fall, sweetly budded branches in spring, electric green moss on twigs, fallen cherry blossoms on smooth river rocks, and flowers.  Of course flowers.  Nature consistently awakens me and feeds my fertile self.

My years of experience as both a floral and garden designer are apparent in my work. Whether designing a shady oasis or a bridal bouquet, I enjoy playing with color and texture to create exciting, living art.  My floral arrangements incorporate much from the garden beyond flowers; silvery foliage, purple berries, black & blue grasses, contorted branches.  Similarly, my gardens are designed with unique, sculptural plants and containers, weathered stone, and the same close attention to detail that’s dedicated to a floral centerpiece.

In my work, I don’t attempt to recreate the scenes that nature provides for us so eloquently, but rather to design innovative, modern vignettes using natural elements.  By showcasing organic forms, I strive to excite the senses by allowing the viewer to experience them in a different way.  Although my designs are always born of fresh ideas, they do carry signature roots of boldness and simplicity that allow for each element to shine.
